Good things come in pairs

Commemoration of the twentieth and fortieth anniversary of successful diplomatic relations between Portugal and China.

Two nations, two commemorations, two bottles to salute.
2019 is the year in which we celebrate simultaneously the year of Portugal in China and the year of China in Portugal. Forty years have passed since the official resume of diplomatic relations between both countries and twenty years since the 1999 final handover.
To celebrate the special moment, Greenapple in partnership with Quinta da Pacheca, designed an iconic concept piece: a wine box made of solid Oak wood encasing two fine Porto wine bottles. The box drew initial inspiration from Greenapple’s best seller Bongó bar cabinet and was designed to enclose both bottles in an infinite shape representing good luck, prosperity and endless abundance for both nations. The Pacheca Porto Tawny 20 years e o Pacheca Porto Tawny 40 years rest in front of a fine slate of polished Patagonia granite, backlit on door opening, revealing Porto’s wine beautiful shimmering.
Two wine boxes were gifted to the Portuguese head of state President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. One of them was later on offered to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping presidential entourage, as a token of the long lasting ties between the two nations. A third wine box rests now at the Museu da Quinta da Pacheca in Lamego, Portugal.
